From April 13-22, Whistler Blackcomb resort will be transformed into a thriving hub of foot-stomping live music, adrenaline pumping sports competitions and awe- inspiring arts and lifestyle events. It’s called the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival Plain and simple, you couldn’t ask for more, and you couldn’t ask for a better way to see out what could be the last winter on earth.
This year sees the rejuvenation of Fashion Exposed, complete with an apocalyptic theme and sexy, sassy fashion brands strutting the runway in preparation for the end of the world. Adding to the energetic vibe will be a selection of incredible dance crews, vying for top spot in the Freeze Dance Showcase. Busting mind-blowing moves, these crews are being judged by the fashion elite, the audience themselves, for the People’s Choice Award and $1000 prize. The end of the world may be coming, but at least we’ll be going out in style! The Fashion Exposed: Armageddon, and Freeze Dance Showcase will be held on Friday April 20 in the Whistler Conference Centre.
Already in the music lineup is the world famous, and self-proclaimed genre-smashing, band The Cat Empire. Playing Sunday April 15th, The Cat Empire will help kick off the 10 days of festivities with their iconic ‘anything goes’ sound. Up and comers from Saskatoon, the Sheepdogs, purveyors of “good ol’ fashioned Rock and Roll”, rock the mainstage on the following Sunday, April 22nd. The Association of Freeskiing Professionals, AFP, is back to present the World Skiing Invitational in freeskiing, and set the bar that little bit higher in the freeskiing world. Ranked as platinum on the freeskiing lineup, the crème de la crème will be out to thrown down and show the hill who’s boss. The evolution of freeskiing is well underway and the best in the world will be out to defend their titles alongside the rising stars of the ski world who will be out in full force to challenge them.
