While ski resorts across North America are slowly starting to open, the staff at Silverton Mountain Guides Heli Skiing scored powder turns and faceshots this week at their new base camp in Seward, Alaska. The new location complements Silverton’s Colorado operation.
“El Gordo [El Niño’s fat cousin] continues to deliver early snow with 2,000-foot-vertical October powder runs. Great day to be a ski guide and working on our newest Seward offerings. … If it’s this good in October, December should be pretty epic!” said a statement published on the SMG Alaska Heli Facebook page. That last thought is a reference to the fact that SMG’s operation at Seward will open to the general public in December.
