Young Whistler skier Lukas Bennett started with a bang, launching a 360 over an avalanche barrier and never looked back, packing his run full of high-speed features and super technical 360s, spinning both ways to victory.
“This is the most insane feeling being here with all my friends – they’re like a family,” said Bennett in a press release. “I had to do a little bit of improv on my run, getting lost at the top, and I wasn’t supposed to go over the barrier. All the riders sent it today. Anybody could have won. It’s insane.”
Showcasing their skills in technical freeriding and jumps in the deep snow, the young athletes at the Freeride Junior World Championships (FJWC) in Kappl, Austria, delivered an impressive performance as they competed for the junior world titles on Wednesday, January 24th. The Freeride Junior World Championships 2024 hosted by Open Faces once again provided a great stage for the next generation of freeriding.
