Mont-Sainte-Anne will be reopening a majority of its lifts for skiers and snowboarders starting Sunday, January 8th.
The Resort has been given permission to resume its operations thanks to the authorizations and approvals from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec(RBQ) on January 7, 2023.
The RBQ announced that it’s partially lifting the closure order issued on December 16, 2022 and authorizes the return to service of four lifts at Mont-Sainte-Anne (MSA). These lifts include the L’Express du Sud, L’Express du Nord, La Panorama Express and La Tortue. However, the L’Étoile filante lift, where the gondola crash occurred on December 10, remains closed.
The RBQ closed the Resort following their discovery that Mont-Sainte-Anne (MSA) did not follow proper operating procedures during the morning start-up of its gondola on Dec. 10, resulting in an unoccupied cabin detaching from the haul rope and falling to the ground. This was the third lift incident in recent years.

Mont-Sainte-Anne is owned and managed by the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) and have been in legal proceedings with the Quebec Government since 2021. The people and Government of Quebec are unhappy with RCR’s management, lack of capital investment and daily operation of Mont-Sainte-Anne and prefer that RCR sell the resort.
