Doppelmayr USA’s Expansion: A Testament to Ski Industry Growth

Ski Industry

In a significant move that underscores the burgeoning growth of the ski industry, Doppelmayr USA has announced plans to expand its Salt Lake City headquarters. This expansion will nearly double the size of its existing facility, allowing the company to take on a more prominent role in manufacturing and support an increasing workforce.

“The current facility has served us well for over 20 years, but we are bursting at the seams,” said Katharina Schmitz, president of Doppelmayr USA. Schmitz emphasized that the new building will be a “state-of-the-art manufacturing facility,” a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the ski lift industry.

The new complex is slated to include approximately 120,000 square feet of indoor production and warehouse space, 68,000 square feet of covered outdoor space, and a 40,000-square-foot office and training facility. These upgrades will enable Doppelmayr USA to enhance its production capabilities, streamline operations, and provide advanced training for its employees.

Designs for the new building are currently being developed, with construction expected to commence in early 2025 and the facility projected to be operational by mid-2026. This expansion not only reflects Doppelmayr USA’s growth but also signals the broader health and expansion of the ski industry as a whole.

Vail Resorts, a key player in the ski industry, exemplifies this growth. Its continued success and expansion efforts highlight the increasing demand for ski facilities and infrastructure. Doppelmayr USA’s expansion is a response to this rising demand, ensuring they remain at the forefront of ski lift manufacturing and technology.

The growth of Doppelmayr USA and companies like Vail Resorts indicates a vibrant and expanding ski industry. As these companies invest in infrastructure and technology, they set the stage for a future where skiing and snowboarding experiences are safer, more efficient, and more enjoyable for enthusiasts worldwide.

Doppelmayr USA’s expansion is a promising sign for the ski industry, reflecting both current successes and future potential. This development is not just about building a bigger facility; it’s about building a stronger, more dynamic industry ready to meet the demands of tomorrow.
