Copper and Keystone open Nov 2nd

Copper Mountain and Keystone Resort will both open for the season on Friday, Nov. 2.

At Copper, the American Eagle chairlift starts turning as Copper launches its 40th season. Guests will be riding and skiing off of the American Eagle chairlift and access two Woodward at Copper terrain parks, with 20 features and several jumps serving all ability levels.

On Oct. 31, two days before the area’s official opening, winners of the area’s VIP Preview Contest joined the U.S. Ski Team as the first guests this year to sample the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center terrain.

The guests also received a tour from U.S. Ski Team athletes who showed off the full-length venue. Thanks to an expanded snowmaking system bolstered by HKD low-e guns, the Speed Center opens nearly two weeks earlier than it did last year, its first.

Keystone will have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on the intermediate Spring Dipper and River Run trails on opening day. The River Run gondola, Montezuma and Ranger lifts will provide uphill access. For beginners, the resort is offering a learning area at the top of the mountain on the Endeavor trail, complete with a carpet lift. The A51 terrain park opens with 25 features, all accessed by the park’s own chairlift.

While they wait for the lifts to start turning at 9 a.m., guests will be treated to warm donuts, hot chocolate and coffee, at the base of the River Run Gondola. The first 100 skiers and riders in line for first chair will be entered into a raffle for a GoPro prize pack.
