Well it’s ski time at Lake Louise with the lifts opening on November 13th and soon after hosting the World Cup. With a decent amount of snowfall and a hard working crew – Lake Louise will open its first run of the season to the public Thursday, November 13.
As with most years the first days will have limited run(s) starting with the famous WiWaxy descent off the Glacier Chair. Reduced lift ticket pricing will be in effect until most of the lifts are open. Despite the limited terrain the main Lodge of Ten Peaks with be open for food and beverage service, lockers are ready for rent, and the Season Pass photos can be taken.
Soon after the opening, on November 29 the men’s World Cup DH rave is being held, followed by the Super-G on November 30th. The ladies race Downhill on December 5 and 6th and Super-G on December 7th.
The world’s fastest racers begin the World Cup speed circuit at the Lake Louise. This is the only World Cup outside of Europe to join the ranks of the famous Club 5 Ski Classics.
The Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup is one of the select few that hold both the men’s and ladies speed events on the World Cup circuit and will play host to the first Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill and super-G races of the season. This is the only event of its kind in Canada and is broadcast to a global audience in excess of 184 million.
The Winterstart Festival at the Lake Louise Ski Resort kick-starts each race day at 10 am. The fan Cheering Zone and Kid Zone opens an hour before the race starts. It’s FREE for the whole family!
