Mark Rubinstein, a highly-respected business executive with more than 25 years’ experience in media and sports, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Alpine Canada Alpin, it was announced Thursday.
Rubinstein, from Toronto, Ont., was previously President and CEO of RubyRun Ventures, a media consulting and production company, and managing director of Keshet Canada, an international media producer and distributor. The 55-year-old succeeds former President and CEO Max Gartner, who stepped down in July, and interim President Roger Jackson, as the head of the national governing body for alpine, para-alpine and ski cross racing in Canada.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the team at Alpine Canada as our alpine, para-alpine and ski cross athletes compete for the honour of representing Canada at the 2014 Sochi Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. I believe this is Canada’s moment to show the world that we are the nation to beat,” Rubinstein said. “Our team at ACA, from the athletes and coaches to the staff and Board of Directors, is a highly motivated, talented and collaborative group and we’re looking forward to working together to achieve great success on and off the hill.”
Rubinstein is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Insight Sports Limited, where he launched and operated several sports and media businesses including television channels GOL-TV, WFN and GAME TV. During his tenure at Insight, Rubinstein served as a member of the Board of Directors of Tennis Canada and The NHL Network, Canada. Rubinstein has also served as President and COO of Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting, Country Manager of Yahoo! Canada, and General Manager at CHUM Limited. He officially starts his new role as President and CEO of Alpine Canada on Monday, Nov. 25.

Rubinstein’s experience of working with top media and sports brands including the NBA, NHL, FIFA and ATP will be invaluable as Alpine Canada’s talented stable of alpine, para-alpine and ski cross athletes go into this Olympic year determined to show they’re ready to compete with the best in the world.”
Lake Louise hosts the first alpine World Cup speed races of the season next week, with men’s downhill and super-G races scheduled for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Manuel Osborne-Paradis, Jan Hudec and Erik Guay will be among those flying the flag for Canada, before the ladies race downhills and a super-G from Dec. 6-8.
