The latest news in the dizzying world of season pass alliances is that the Mountain Collective—which includes a good number of resorts that are part of the new Ikon Pass from Alterra Mountain Company—will remain mostly the same for the 2018-19 season. The biggest change: Big Sky, Mont., replaces Telluride, which is included on next season’s Epic Pass.
“Big Sky is an ideal fit for the Mountain Collective,” said Christian Knapp, chief marketing officer, Aspen Skiing Company. “It has all the attributes we look for in a Collective-worthy destination. A big, burly mountain experience combined with an authentic mountain community. We are thrilled to offer a lineup of resorts for 2018-19 that will resonate with our core passholders and constitute the very best mountain experiences in their respective regions.”
Big Sky joins Alta, Aspen Snowmass, Banff Sunshine, Coronet Peak – The Remarkables, Jackson Hole, Lake Louise, Mammoth, Revelstoke, Snowbird, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Snowbasin, Sugarbush, Sun Valley, Taos, and Thredbo in the alliance of 16 destinations. Passholders get two days at each “full partner,”—32 free days in all—and half-off lift tickets after that.
All the North American resorts but Snowbasin, Sun Valley, and Taos are included on Alterra Mountain Company’s Ikon Pass, which goes on sale March 6 for $899. A limited number of Mountain Collective passes are now available for $409.
Spring pass purchasers receive one bonus day at the destination of their choice, and two additional days at MC’s “Global Affiliate Resorts:” Valle Nevado, Chile, Niseko, Japan and Chamonix Mont Blanc, France. And, for a limited time, pricing for the kids pass (ages 12 and under) is just $1 for the 2018-19 season when purchased this spring with an Adult Pass.
Extra benefits available to Mountain Collective passholders include exclusive lodging deals and a complimentary, one-year Protect Our Winters membership, a step intended to help unite the winter sports community on confronting climate change. The partnership also offers a 50 percent discount on lift tickets to premier season passholders at the participating resorts throughout the season.
