Equipment Buying Tips:
To get the right ski and boarding (snowriding) gear is not an easy task. There is a huge variety out there and every manufacturer claims theirs is the best. So what do you do to find the right stuff to match your needs?
Here are a few suggestions that will make choosing your gear a lot easier.
First, I would like to help you narrow down the field of brands as it relates to skis, boards, boots, bindings, and clothing. Next to good snow and terrain, the right equipment is obviously the most important component to make skiing or boarding enjoyable.
The first pair of Fischer skis I got for Christmas when I was 10 years old. At that time Fischer has been already making skis for 25 years. Over the years I had been skiing on the wooden to Aly(metal skis) to the famous Fiberglas C4’s. For me, year after year Fischer skis came out on top!
I teach Private Lessons at Whistler/Blackcomb and at the end and beginning of every season I’m testing all the major new brands to be able to recommend to my clients which would be the most suitable skis for their ability.

The most important task is to select the right model ski or board for your ability and conditions you do most of your skiing or boarding in.
Skis/Boards:
When it comes to picking the best ski or board, the only way to find out what’s best for you is your own experience. Go to your favorite ski or board shop, narrow it down to your favorite brand and tell them your ability level. Let them recommend the appropriate model. Ask them for a demo and try it out. If you like it, buy it. If you don’t like it, keep trying until you find the right one.
Boots:
With boots, the same criteria applies. Take your time in trying on the models suitable to your ability. The one that gives you the support that you need and feels the most comfortable is the right one.
Bindings:
Bindings, pick the bindings that come with your skis. Make sure to have them checked out whenever you get your skis tuned.
Clothing:
Clothing, like anything else, buy quality and function first. A suit that looks good but sucks up moisture like a sponge when you ski in powder won’t make your day all that pleasant. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to make a fashion statement.
